Ivanisevic Win Budapest Title

Goran Ivanisevic wun the first ever BlackRock Tour of Champions tournament in Budapest with a 7-6(0), 6-3 victory over Henri Leconte in the final.

Ivanisevic edged the first set on a Tie-Break and then, with his family watching, raced through the second set and now sits comfortably atop the South African Airways Rankings.

"I played really well today," said Ivanisevic.
"The match certainly wasn’t perfect but I’m really pleased to win here in Budapest. Henri played well and it was a tough match but in the circumstances I’m pretty pleased with this match and how I played. It’s been a great week here and Budapest is a beautiful city."

Leconte knew he had a chance to win his first title in eight years.

"I am very disappointed to have lost today but I’ve had a great week here in Budapest and I love the city," said Leconte, who leap-frogged Marcelo Rios into second place in the rankings. "The crowd this week in Hungary has been fantastic and I really appreciate that."

In the third place match, Sergi Bruguera was forced to retire while trailing John McEnroe 6-3, 4-1.
Last week, Richard Krajicek beat Ivanisevic in a thrilling final to win his first ever BlackRock Tour of Champions Title at the AFAS Classics in Eindhoven.
